日本はサマータイムを使用していますか?

日本はサマータイムを採用していません。JSTが年間を通じてUTC+9である理由を学びましょう。

Does Japan Use Daylight Saving Time?

No. Japan has not observed daylight saving time (DST) since 1951. The country uses Japan Standard Time (JST) at UTC+9 throughout the entire year.

Why Japan stopped using DST

Japan briefly used DST during the Allied occupation from 1948 to 1951. The practice was unpopular due to Japan's long summer daylight hours and cultural work patterns. It was abolished by the Japanese government in 1952.

What this means for scheduling

Because Japan does not change its clocks, the time difference between Japan and other countries shifts during DST transitions:

PeriodNew York to TokyoLondon to Tokyo
Winter (Nov–Mar)14 hours9 hours
Summer (Mar–Nov)13 hours8 hours

Advantages for global teams

Japan's fixed timezone makes scheduling predictable. There are no twice-yearly adjustments to calendar events or automated workflows.

Other Asian countries without DST

Most of East and Southeast Asia does not observe DST:

China (UTC+8)
South Korea (UTC+9)
Singapore (UTC+8)
Thailand (UTC+7)
Vietnam (UTC+7)

This makes Asia a stable timezone region for international business operations.
